Quercetin has antioxidant activity and is used in herbal medicine as a blood vessel protector. Bromelain is a proteolytic digestive enzyme derived from the stem of the pineapple. Bromelain has been shown to counteract fibrin and kinin pathways, which stimulate plasmin, which blocks the mobilization of endogenous arachidonic acid and reduces prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing localized inflammation and edema.
