Crab apple belongs to the Rosaceae family. The balm made from its juice, sap, and leaves was the original "ointment." The buds are rich in phytoestrogens, lignans, and progesterone-like substances. Crab apple buds are an excellent combination with ginkgo buds, as they support mental function and are also rich in antioxidants, particularly the polyphenols quercetin and phloridzin. Interestingly, both plants are among the oldest living tree species.
Physically, crabapple protects vascular structures, provides hormonal support, and stimulates osteoblast activity. Raspberry leaf is an excellent companion to apple trees for menstrual problems related to a relative progesterone deficiency, the former supporting the follicular phase and the latter the luteal phase.
On the spiritual and mental-emotional levels, apple bud promotes introspection, the use of the intellect as a tool, and inner awakening.
