L-glutamine plus Theracurmin provides two complementary nutrients that target inflammation and support intestinal and musculoskeletal health, particularly in response to exercise. L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body, a Krebs cycle intermediate particularly important for intestinal and immune cells, and is known to be depleted following intense physical activity. L-glutamine supplementation has been shown to prevent exercise-induced increases in intestinal permeability by promoting tight junction stability, increasing the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, and suppressing inflammation, including NF-κB activation. L-glutamine also stimulates protein synthesis pathways while inhibiting protein breakdown, and has been shown to improve muscle recovery, reduce muscle soreness, and limit muscle damage after exercise.
Curcumin has well-established anti-inflammatory effects on multiple molecular targets, including NF-κB, as well as cyclooxygenases and lipoxygenases, and it also promotes the restoration of intestinal integrity by enhancing tight junction protein expression. Curcumin supplementation has been shown to attenuate post-exercise muscle damage, reduce delayed-onset muscle soreness, and improve muscle performance recovery. Theracurmin, in particular, has been shown to prevent both increased creatine kinase and muscle breakdown after eccentric exercise. In a prospective clinical trial, theracurmin was effective in relieving symptoms and reducing the need for rescue medications in participants with knee osteoarthritis. Both L-glutamine and theracurmin target multiple mechanisms associated with inflammation, muscle repair, and muscle function.
