Designs for Health's EGCg is a decaffeinated green tea extract derived from Camellia sinensis leaves. Green tea consumption has been documented since 2700 BC, and numerous studies show strong associations between drinking 5-6 cups or more of green tea per day and beneficial effects on cardiometabolic health.
EGCg (epigallocatechin gallate) is one of the most studied green tea polyphenols, as it has been shown to account for many of the benefits observed when drinking dry green tea or green tea extract. It is the main catechin in green tea, accounting for 50–80% of the catechin content, or approximately 200–300 mg per cup of brewed green tea (from 5 g of dry green tea leaves).
