A blend of Relora, ashwagandha, phosphatidylserine, and supportive nutrients to reduce cortisol and calm the nervous system.
Cortico-Calm Matrix is designed to help individuals with elevated cortisol release or those with untimely cortisol production and sleep problems. This formula contains patented herbal extracts and supportive nutrients to help reduce cortisol levels and calm an overactive nervous system during times of stress or irregular cortisol patterns.
It has long been known that irregular cortisol production negatively impacts a wide range of health measures, including sleep, cognition, metabolic function, and immunity. Ideally, cortisol is released upon waking, and levels gradually decline throughout the day before reaching their lowest levels during rest and sleep cycles. Modern lifestyles and external stressors don't always allow for this healthy cortisol curve. In some cases, cortisol production is excessive or inappropriate, with higher levels produced in the evening.
Cortico-Calm Matrix contains Relora, a patented blend of two plant extracts, Magnolia officinalis and Phellodendron amurense, whose use in managing cortisol levels is supported by clinical research and decades of practical application. Clinical trials have shown that Relora can subjectively reduce stress, improve sleep quality, reduce cortisol levels, decrease cravings for high-sugar foods, and maintain weight in stress-eating individuals. One trial showed that supplementation for just two weeks in mildly to moderately stressed individuals resulted in a 37% decrease in salivary cortisol levels and a significant increase in salivary DHEA. These effects appear to be due to the active ingredients magnolol and honokiol, which bind to GABA receptors.
Withania somnifera, better known as ashwagandha, is another powerful herb used to support healthy cortisol levels and stress-related issues.
Cortico-Calm Matrix contains a patented extract known as Sensoril ashwagandha, which has been the subject of a dozen clinical trials to support multiple aspects of human health and the stress response. Specifically, it has been shown to increase energy, reduce cortisol levels, suppress food cravings, improve cognition, enhance athletic performance, and reduce exercise recovery time. People who take Sensoril experience subjective improvements in stress management, reporting less irritability, better concentration, and reduced fatigue. Sensoril has also been shown to reduce inflammation, as shown by measurements of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, and reduce joint pain in people with knee discomfort. It is standardized to three bioactive ingredients—withanolide glycosides, withaferin A, and oligosaccharides—to ensure consistent quality and results. These two patented herbal extracts have been combined with supportive nutrients in Cortico-Calm Matrix to optimize the cortisol response and calm the nervous system.
One such important nutrient is phosphatidylserine. Phosphatidylserine is one of the main phospholipids found in the brain and is involved in intercellular communication within the central nervous system. Studies have shown that it can help regulate numerous neurotransmitters, including acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. More than a dozen studies have found significant improvements in cognitive areas such as learning, memory, concentration, and recall. Phosphatidylcholine has also been shown to reduce cortisol levels during excessive exercise and has demonstrated an extremely high safety profile.
Finally, Cortico-Calm Matrix contains gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), magnesium, and myo-inositol to act synergistically on the stress response. GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human brain. It is responsible for calming the mind and balancing neurotransmission during arousal. Studies indicate that GABA supplementation can improve relaxation and concentration during times of stress, reduce sleep latency, and increase the time spent in deep sleep. Similarly, magnesium is necessary for proper nerve and muscle function, as well as for the creation of cellular energy in mitochondria and as a cofactor for the construction of DNA, RNA, and many proteins. Magnesium is provided in its highly stable and bioavailable bis-glycinate form. Inositol, like phosphatidylserine, is a key component of the cell membrane. Inositol plays a key role in regulating communication and signaling between cells by increasing the sensitivity of cellular receptors. It has been shown to increase the sensitivity of receptors for serotonin, acetylcholine, norepinephrine, insulin, and thyroid hormones. Collectively, the mechanisms of these three supportive nutrients all indicate a reduced and more balanced stress response.
