BioLivX contains a variety of nutrients and herbs proven to protect and improve liver function and support detoxification pathways. Sodium glucuronate supports the phase II detoxification pathway by providing the precursor to glucuronidation. Conjugation of glucuronic acid with a wide variety of functional groups, including hydroxyls, phenols, and carboxyls, occurs in the liver and intestine.

Licorice has been shown to have hepatoprotective effects, including protection against toxins such as carbon tetrachloride, as well as the excess free fatty acids that accompany non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Alpha-lipoic acid is a water- and fat-soluble antioxidant involved in hepatoprotection and the prevention of cellular damage. It has the ability to alter the redox status of cells and interact with thiols, thereby increasing the liver's glutathione content.

Silybin is the most active flavonolignan isomer of silymarin.
