Quercetin is a flavonoid antioxidant with numerous anti-inflammatory properties. Proquercetin is effective in managing hypersensitivity reactions (type I IgE-mediated reactions) that cause histamine release, such as seasonal allergies. Quercetin relieves allergies by stabilizing mast cell and basophil membranes, thereby preventing histamine release. It also blocks enzymes responsible for the production of inflammatory mediators that sensitize the body's pain receptors.
